Blanco, Texas

Blanco is located approximately 45 minutes north of San Antonio on Highway 281.  It is convenient to Canyon Lake, Johnson City, Fischer, Wimberley and other Hill Country communities.

Blanco's charming downtown square is located right on Highway 281 and consists of a variety of restaurants and shops.  One of my personal favorites is Riley's BBQ on the northeast corner of the square.  Rileys brisket is hard to beat and for a special treat, try the jalapeno sausage.

In addition to the square, Blanco also contains a jewel of a park.   Blanco State Park is located along the Blanco River as it runs through town.  This little known park contains a great swimming hole as well as tubing concessions, hiking and biking trails and more. 

Next time you're in Blanco, why not stop by Riley's, pick up a pound of brisket, make sandwiches and head over to Blanco State Park for a picnic.  I can't think of a better way to spend a summer afternoon.
